Behavior & Mental Health Project
The Behavior and Mental Health Project exists to support school districts and educators in addressing the growing behavioral and mental health needs of students. By equipping teachers, campus staff, and school administrators with the knowledge, skills, and resources necessary to create a supportive learning environment, this initiative aims to enhance student success and well-being.
PROJECT GOALS

Professional Development for Educators and Staff

Provide evidence-based training and professional development opportunities for classroom teachers, school counselors, and other campus staff.

Offer workshops and training sessions that focus on understanding and managing student behavior related to underlying mental health challenges.

Develop educators’ communication skills to improve interactions with students experiencing behavioral difficulties.

Promote wellness practices among school staff and students, including stress management techniques and mindfulness strategies.

Reduce stigma surrounding mental health issues in schools through education and awareness initiatives.

Effective Behavior Intervention Plans for Students with Disabilities

Support schools in the development and implementation of behavior intervention plans (BIPs) tailored to meet the needs of students with disabilities.

Offer technical assistance and best-practice guidance on individualized support and strategies that promote positive behavioral change.

Foster collaboration between educators, special education professionals, and mental health service providers to ensure students receive appropriate interventions.

Enhancing Social and Personal Competencies in Educators

Provide training for teachers and staff to help them better understand and support the social and personal competencies of students with disabilities.

Equip educators with tools to cultivate students' emotional regulation, self-awareness, and social skills to improve both academic achievement and overall school engagement.
